Authorities in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State Nigeria, are responding to a series of explosions that have left casualties feared and many others injured.
The blasts, suspected to be caused by improvised explosive devices, struck multiple locations across the city, including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, the Post Office area, and the crowded Monday Market.
Witnesses say the explosions occurred in the evening as residents gathered to break their Ramadan fast, triggering panic and leaving several people wounded.
Emergency responders evacuated victims to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving treatment.
The Borno State Police Command says its bomb disposal unit has been deployed, while security operatives continue to secure affected areas.
Police spokesperson Nahum Daso has urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue.
Reacting to the incident, Governor Babagana Zulum condemned the attacks, expressing sympathy for victims and assuring residents that security agencies are working to prevent further violence.
The attacks come amid intensified military operations against insurgents in the region.
