The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after the Senate confirmed his nomination.
Oyedele’s appointment follows a cabinet reshuffle that saw his predecessor, Doris Uzoka-Anite, moved to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Before his appointment, Oyedele chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, set up to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system and improve revenue generation.
He brings decades of experience in taxation and public policy, having previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he served as a fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader.
As Minister of State, Oyedele is expected to support ongoing economic reforms, including efforts to strengthen tax administration and boost government revenue.
His appointment comes as the federal government intensifies moves to expand Nigeria’s revenue base and improve fiscal management across the country.
