The Pentagon says deals with Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems will boost production of key components for the THAAD missile defense system by up to four times.

A separate agreement will also accelerate output of Precision Strike Missiles, while Honeywell Aerospace will expand production of critical navigation and munitions components.

Officials say the move puts America’s defense industry on what they describe as a “wartime footing.”

The surge follows heavy use of interceptor missiles by the United States, Israel, and Gulf allies to counter Iranian attacks.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high after Iran reportedly rejected a U.S.-backed peace proposal to end the conflict.

Iranian officials say any ceasefire will be on their terms, insisting on security guarantees, an end to hostilities, and compensation for war damage.

There has been no formal government statement, but the development signals a widening gap in efforts to de-escalate the crisis.
