The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has launched a new strategic plan aimed at improving weather services and strengthening climate resilience across Nigeria.
The roadmap, covering 2026 to 2030, was unveiled in Abuja by the agency’s Director-General, Charles Anosike, who said it is designed to enhance performance and service delivery.
According to him, the plan aligns NiMet’s operations with national development goals while reinforcing its long-standing role in protecting lives and property.
The strategy focuses on key areas including staff development, partnerships, technology, service quality and revenue growth.
Officials say NiMet is also adopting a results-driven framework to track performance and improve accountability across its operations.
The initiative is part of broader reforms under the federal government’s performance monitoring system.
Experts have welcomed the move, noting that it will help translate policy into measurable outcomes and strengthen Nigeria’s response to climate and weather challenges.
