n early trading, UK gas prices jumped more than 20 percent — rising to 171 pence per therm — amid fears of supply disruptions.
Oil prices have also climbed, gaining around five percent to trade at 113 dollars a barrel.
The spike comes after reported strikes on energy infrastructure in both Qatar and Iran.
Qatar’s state-run energy company says two waves of Iranian strikes caused what it describes as “extensive damage” at the country’s main gas hub — a critical facility for global liquefied natural gas supply.
The developments have raised concerns over potential shortages and further volatility in energy markets, particularly in Europe, which relies heavily on imported gas.
Analysts warn prices could remain elevated if tensions continue to escalate.
