In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump said both sides had made progress toward easing tensions in the Middle East. He added that discussions will continue throughout the week.
According to him, the United States has delayed any attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days, to allow diplomacy a chance to succeed.
The decision came just hours before a U.S. deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz — a key global oil route.
The crisis follows weeks of rising conflict, after U.S. and Israeli forces launched major strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites in late February.
Iran has since responded with missile attacks and by disrupting shipping in the region, pushing global oil prices higher.
More than two thousand people have reportedly been killed across Iran, Lebanon, and Israel.
Despite the pause, tensions remain high, with warnings of further escalation if attacks resume.
