According to the Operation HADIN KAI Joint Task Force in the North-East, the attack happened on March third in Gwoza Local Government Area.

Military authorities say reinforcement troops from the Forward Operating Base in Pulka and the 151 Battalion were quickly deployed to support soldiers defending the position.

During the operation, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle was damaged after hitting an improvised explosive device. Despite the setback, troops continued their advance toward the location.

Additional forces led by Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, later joined the operation and coordinated a counter-attack that forced the insurgents to retreat.

During the clash, soldiers recovered three AK-47 rifles and the barrel of a general-purpose machine gun.

The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI also provided air support, helping troops neutralise several of the attackers.

After the operation, Brigadier General Abdullahi commended the troops for their courage and urged them to sustain pressure on terrorist groups operating in the region.

The military says operations will continue as part of efforts to restore lasting peace and security across north-eastern Nigeria.
