Yoruba Nation, IPOB Agitators Storm UN General Assembly
Self-determination campaigners comprising Yoruba Nation agitators, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other agitators from the South and the Middle Belt stormed the United Nations (UN) for its one-million-man freedom march.
The protest, monitored virtually by The Nation, was coordinated by the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS).
The protesters urged the UN to supervise referendums in the Middle Belt and southern parts of Nigeria.
They also demanded an end to the killings allegedly being perpetrated by suspected herdsmen over grazing, and rejected the 1999 Constitution.
The protest, which started on September 14 and to continue till September 24 opposite the UN headquarters in New York, the United States of America (U.S.A), coincides with the 76th UN General Assembly, which started yesterday.
In a statement, NINAS Chairman, Prof. Banji Akintoye, and other leaders, said the protest was to draw the attention of world leaders to state-sponsored terrorism against the people of the Middle Belt and the Southern.
