Travis Scott Donates $1 Million To Students Attending HBCUs
Travis Scott is in his second year of helping Black college students.
According to a recent press release, Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation has awarded $1 million in scholarships to HBCUs students who will graduate in the Class of 2022. In partnership with the Waymon Webster Scholarship, the students had to have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
The recipients were graduating seniors from 38 HBCUs, which included Alabama A&M University, Central State University, Florida A&M University, Jackson State University, Morehouse College, Texas Southern University, Grambling State University, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Prairie View A&M University, where Scott’s grandfather attended.
Scott said in a statement, “Excellence abounds in every Black household, but too often opportunity does not – and Black students are left behind or counted out. So that’s what my family and I set out to change. We congratulate all 100 scholarship recipients this year. I know we will see great things from them – and we are already looking forward to increasing our work next year.”
Project manager and Scott’s sister, Jordan Webster, who graduated from Howard University this year and said her brother’s philanthropy “means the world” to the students.
