Tony Awards Introduce ‘No Violence’ Policy After Will Smith’s Oscars Slap
New York , ForeTVHub – In light of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, the Tony Awards introduced its “No violence” policy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony award show’s producers revealed how they would handle individuals in the event that violence occurred.
“The Tony Awards has a strict no violence policy,” the letter to ticket buyers reads. “In the event of an incident, the perpetrator will be removed from the event immediately.”
The New York event will also have other protocols in place: dress code, seating, and vaccination requirements.
These procedures arrive just weeks following Smith smacking comedian and host of the March 27 Oscars, Chris Rock.
After Chris Rock made a joke directed at Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, Smith briskly walked toward Rock on stage and smacked him across the face.
Smith went on to apologize to the Academy, as well as Rock for his actions. Smith is also banned from the show and any other Academy-related events for ten years.
The 2022 Tony Awards will happen on Sunday, June 12 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
