Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, will embark on his first official overseas trip since taking office on May 29, 2023. According to his Special Adviser, Dele Alake, the President will travel to Paris, France, to participate in a summit hosted by President Emmanuel Macron. The summit aims to review and sign a New Global Financial Pact, prioritizing support and investment for vulnerable countries affected by climate change, energy crises, and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the two-day summit at Palais Brongniart, world leaders will discuss strategies to restore fiscal space for countries facing financial challenges, mobilize innovative financing for climate-vulnerable nations, promote development in low-income countries, and encourage investment in green infrastructure for energy transition in emerging and developing economies.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials. The President’s visit to Paris will conclude on Saturday when he returns to Abuja.

In other news, President Tinubu recently met with Aliko Dangote, an influential African business tycoon, and Bill Gates, the co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The meeting, held at the State House in Abuja, focused on the Gates Foundation’s commitment to supporting innovation, global health, and development by collaborating closely with communities and leaders at the national and local levels.
