TikTok Is Reportedly Testing New ‘Watch History’ Feature To Allow Users To Rewatch Videos They May Have Lost!
We’ve all been there–swiping on TikTok, laughing hard as ever, and suddenly the video that had you so entertained is gone. Well, the popular short-form video app is reportedly testing a new feature to ensure you never lose another video again!
According to The Verge, TikTok‘s potential new “watch history” feature will allow users to revisit videos they watched within the last seven days.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” a company spokesperson said.
While details surrounding the new feature are scarce, social media consultant Matt Nacarra shared possible graphics of the feature from Hammond Oh, who is notorious for having the scoop on new features on various social media platforms.
TikTok users have long been trying to unearth temporary workarounds to save the videos they so desperately want to watch over and over again.
One user, @rachforaday, found a complex way to view TikTok watch history–a feature which turns off once the user exits the page. She lists the process as follows:
“Users can open up the TikTok app and then go to the bottom and click on the “discover” icon. From there, click into the top search bar and type an asterisk (*). Click search. Users will probably see “hashtag” suggestions but from there, they just need to go to the top right corner and click on “filters.” A screen should pop up automatically and should show an option that says “watched videos.” All a user has to do is toggle the switch from off to on and click “apply.” It should automatically prompt them to their “top” feed and it will show them all of the videos they’ve watched in the past seven days,” according to Fox 29.
