Taylor Swift received a Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa, and was in charge of speaking in front of the 2022 graduates at the Yankee Stadium.
Taylor Swift’s reward for a successful career
New York University awarded the 32-year-old singer as an initiative after the Rolling Stone magazine writer Brittany Spanos gave a course about Taylor Swift’s musical legacy.
“Miss Swift is one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation. She is the only female artist in history to win the music industry’s highest honor, the Grammy Award for Album of the Year (AOTY), three times,” NYU announced in an official release.
“She is the only solo artist of this century to have three albums reach No. 1 in one year,” the release said.
At the same ceremony, Judith Heumann was also awarded an honorary degree for her outstanding work in defense of the rights of the disabled.
Due to the complicated nature of the artistic environment, Taylor Swift was unable to continue studying and instead dedicated herself to reaping successes, a fortune estimated at 150 million dollars.
During her speech, Taylor Swift said, “I know it can be really overwhelming figuring out who to be, and when. Who you are now and how to act in order to get where you want to go.”
I have some good news: it’s totally up to you. I also have some terrifying news: it’s totally up to you,” Taylor Swift mentioned to NYU’s 2022 class.
