Comedian Joe Luna, who was known by his stage name Joe El Cholo, died aged 38 just days after documenting his experience with Covid-19.

The stand-up had told his fans on Instagram that the virus was ‘no joke’ adding ‘especially if you are diabetic, it will rain hard on your parade’.

Luna added he had contracted the virus due to ‘close contact’ and not from performing.

He detailed his illness further in an Instagram video and said his girlfriend and children also had coronavirus but with less severe symptoms.

Luna said in the over 30-minute long video that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and had been diagnosed with pneumonia.

‘For his funeral, he doesn’t want anyone crying so we’re going to put together a show because that’s what he would have wanted. He wanted people to be laughing and having fun.’
