Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has called on Christians to pray for Sudan who is in the midst of a Political crisis after its security forces opened fire on pro-democracy protesters in its Capital, Khartoum.

Concerns about the crackdown on protesters in Sudan has been mounting as the Pope called on Christians to pray for an end to the violence and for the country to find peace through good dialogue.

Pope Francis made this statement while speaking at the Pentecost Mass in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday. 

He said in His quote, “In these days, the news coming from Sudan is causing pain and concern. Let’s pray for these people to stop the violence and to search for peace and the common good through dialogue.”

Sudan’s ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC) violently dissipated the pro-democracy protests in Sudan resulting to many deaths and injuries.

According to sources, more than 100 people have been killed in the crackdown, with at least 40 bodies pulled from the River Nile in Khartoum.

Pro-democracy protesters have been protesting for weeks to force the ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC) to hand over power to a civilian-led government.
