Michael B. Jordan’s Black Superman series “Val -Zod” hired writers Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters to pen an adaptation for HBO Max, Deadline reports.

According to Variety, Metayer and Peters recently worked on the Starz series “BMF,” which Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson executive produced, as well as the script for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

Val is from the same doomed planet as the original Superman, Kal-El. And just like the first Man of Steel, the Black superhero also finds refuge on earth, where he uses his powers to fight evil. In the series, Val is pitted against a brainwashed Superman.

Jordan is an executive producing the project for his cutting-edge Outlier Society company. In February, Amazon signed Jordan and his production company to a first-look film and an overall television deal, according to Hollywood Reporter. This came on the heels of a film deal with Warner Bros. Pictures.

There has been speculation about whether the Black Panther actor would star as Val. For right now, he’s reportedly committed just to executive producing the series. But who knows, that could change.
