Louis Vuitton to Hold a Tribute in Honour of Virgil Abloh in Miami on Tuesday
French luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton, on Monday announced that it would hold a tribute in honor of its late artistic director, Virgil Abloh, who died on Sunday.
Virgil, who is also the founder of the design brand, Off-White, died after two years of battling a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma.
In a bid to honour the first African-American to head the French fashion house, Louis Vuitton is set to pay a tribute to Virgil by hosting a presentation of his Spring-Summer 2022 Collection.
The presentation is set to be held in Miami on Tuesday.
Announcing the event, Louis Vuitton tweeted on Monday, “Virgil was here. In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton pays tribute to the life and legacy of a creative genius with a presentation of his Spring-Summer 2022 Collection in Miami on November 30th at 5:30 pm (ET).”
Abloh, the child of Ghanaian immigrants who grew up in Chicago and trained as a civil engineer and then an architect, made his name through collaborations with the rapper Kanye West, with whom he began working in 2002 at the age of 22.
