Kenyan Gospel Artist Embarambamba Condemned For Simulating Sex
Kenyan gospel musician Christopher Nyangwara Mosioma, popularly known as Embarambamba, has come under fire after being filmed simulating sex while dancing with a woman.
It is not clear if the woman consented.
The video has been widely shared and many Kenyans on social media criticised the dancing as too raunchy for a gospel musician.
The episode happened at a nightclub in the capital, Nairobi, where he was performing one of his songs in the Gusii language.
Kenya’s so-called “moral policeman” Ezekiel Mutua, who is in charge of music and film and classification, termed the video as “gross” and said the musician had “crossed the line”.
He later added that the video was “explicit and amounts to indecent exposure”.
In his defence, the musician is reported by the Star newspaper as saying that people shouldn’t be too quick to judge him.
“Jesus came into this world for the sake of sinners… When Jesus was in this world, He sat with the sinners.
The reason was that the sinners would be born again and know God,” he is quoted as saying.
