Keke Palmer is now being named one of the best ‘final girls’ in horror movies after her performance as Emerald in Jordan Peele’s Nope alongside Daniel Kaluuya. If you’re not familiar with the term “final girl,” it’s basically the last woman standing at the end of a horror movie. Think Jamie Lee Curtis in the plethora of Halloween movies.

In the movie, Palmer’s character taps into her entrepreneurial dreams and turns the wild incident of being stalked by aliens into money-making profit.

“The fact that I would ever be included in a final girl list, you don’t even understand. Girl, that really is just like the coolest thing in the world!” Palmer said chatting with Metro.co.uk. “Thank you for sharing that with me.”

Adding, “‘We all have such extreme opinions about horror, but horror [as a genre] is one of the most… It can be so underrated – and I hate the term underrated, because the real ones know. I’m a big fan of the genre so I really just love that.”

Kaluuya plays OJ Haywood, the descendant of the unknown Black horse jockey featured in Eadweard Muybridge’s 1887 photographic study, which many dub the first motion picture. When the film begins with OJ’s father (played by storied screen veteran Keith David) dying after getting hit by a random object that falls from the sky, it prompts the film’s question of “What’s a bad miracle?”
