Jay-Z Makes History As Grammys Most Nominated Artist of All Time
Rapper Jay-Z has made history at the Grammys as the most nominated artist of all time.
After the 2022 Grammy nominations were announced on Tuesday (Nov. 23) the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee secured one nom for Album of the Year for his contribution on Kanye West’s DONDA, and two for Best Rap Song for his work on West’s “Jail,” and DMX’s “Bath Salts.”
Those three nods now place him at 83 total nominations for his decorated career. The new record has also surpassed Quincy Jones who has a total of 80 nominations.
Jay-Z joins wife Beyoncé in the Grammy Superdome after she became the recipient of the most Grammys of any artist, and the most of any female artist at the 2021 Grammy Award ceremony with four wins bringing her total to 28 throughout her career.
In other Grammy news, for the 2022 ceremony, singer and musician Jon Batiste lead with 11 nominations across multiple genres. Doja Cat and H.E.R. each have secured eight nominations as well.
Other noteworthy Gramophone nominations include Arlo Parks, Saweetie, and Baby Keem up for Best New Artist.
