Air links between Libya and Italy will resume in the fall after nearly a decade, as announced by the head of the Libyan government recognized by the UN. The Italian government has reportedly informed Libya about the decision to lift the air embargo.

Libyan carriers, currently blacklisted from flying over EU airspace, may or may not be removed from the list before the planned resumption of air links. This development is significant for Libya, which has been dealing with political turmoil and restricted air travel since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011.
