Demarai Gray wanted by Roma and Benfica on FREE transfer with his Leicester deal set to end in summer
MARSEILLE and Benfica lead a host of clubs across Europe keen to talk to Demarai Gray next month about a free transfer move.
Gray’s deal at Leicester runs out at the end of the season and the winger has indicated he does not want to accept the offer of new terms from the club.
That means he is free to talk to overseas teams from January 1, and there is no shortage of admirers for the 24-year-old wide man.
Marseille believe Gray has the qualities to thrive in France while Benfica believe he can make a major impact in Portugal having proven his ability in the Premier League.
Monaco are another club who have shown an interest, while Bundesliga sides have also asked to be kept informed about his situation.
The former England under-21 international was part of Leicester’s Premier League winning side.
Yet he has been out in the cold at the King Power Stadium this season after indicating he would not be renewing his contract.
Boss Brendan Rodgers has preferred to go with others who he knows will be part of the club’s future.
But an olive branch was extended last week when he appeared as a sub in the draw at Crystal Palace.
Leicester now have to decide whether they try to secure a cash deal for him in January, or lose the player on a free transfer in the summer.
But Gray is in a position where he is in charge of his destiny, knowing he can agree terms in the coming weeks if he wants to sit tight until the end of the season before making a move elsewhere.
