After releasing the first photos last week, we’re finally getting to see what is being billed as the most anticipated comedy of 2021. Amazon Studios has released the official trailer for Coming 2 America and it will have you smiling from ear-to-ear.

Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is now King of Zumunda and must fulfill his father’s dying wish to return to New York City and find a son he never knew he had. It’s been over 30 years since Akeem first stepped foot back in America, but he couldn’t return without his best friend and confidant, Semmi (Arsenio Hall) by his side. The two old friends must embark on a hilarious adventure, searching throughout Queens for Akeem’s long, lost son.

The clip features Murphy and Hall not only reprising their roles as their main characters but disguised as several other personalities that fans will recall from the 1988 film as well. Remember gold-chain, Jeri Curl wearing soul singer Randy Watson? Or who could forget old man Clarence, who still owns the local barbershop where the even older Saul continues to hang out, play checkers and mouth off, while waiting for a cut? The gang of characters played by Murphy and Hall are back for the sequel, and by the looks of this clip, it only further cements these two as one of the greatest comic duos of our time.

Joining them is an all-star cast featuring James Earl Jones, Jermaine Fowler, Shari Headley, Wesley Snipes, Teyana Taylor, KiKi Layne, Tracy Morgan, and Leslie Jones.

Excited fans won’t have to social distance at their local theatre to see the sequel. Coming 2 America was acquired by Amazon from Paramount Pictures and will stream on March 5th.
