Another one for T’Challa. Chadwick Boseman has just been honoured with a Posthumous Emmy Award at the creative Arts Emmys.

Chadwick Boseman was honored with a Posthumous Emmy Award during the Creative Arts Emmys for his role as T’Challa in the Disney+ animated series “What If…?”

According to The Wrap, the award show took place on Saturday, with the late actor winning the award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance. It was the actor’s final performance before passing, after a silent battle with colon cancer in 2020. Boseman reimagined his Black Panther character, taking over as Star-Lord T’Challa.

“When I learned that Chadwick had been nominated for this award, I started thinking about everything that was going on when he was recording it, what was going on in the world and what was going on in our world and being in such awe of his commitment and his dedication,” she said. What a beautifully-aligned moment it is, that one of the last things he would work on would not only be revisiting a character that was so important to him in his career and to the world but also that it would be an exploration of something new, diving into a new potential future.”

26 actors/actresses have been nominated posthumously for an Emmy but only five have won, including Boseman. Marvel Studios sent out a tweet, thanking the Academy for their honoring of Boseman’s performance.

In the Marvel universe, Boseman made an incredible dent in the cinematic world. He starred as T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: End Game, and last but never least, Black Panther.
