Barack And Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Production Company Signs Deal With Audible
After signing a new deal with Audible, Barack and Michelle Obama will be uprooting their Higher Ground production company from its current home, Spotify.
According to Variety, the former first family signed an exclusive, multiyear and global first-look production contract with the audiobook and podcast platform. The agreement between Higher Ground and Audible “will reflect the companies’ shared mission to tell meaningful and entertaining stories that elevate diverse voices and experiences,” the outlet notes.
“At Higher Ground, we have always sought to lift voices that deserve to be heard — and Audible is invested in realizing that vision alongside us,” former President Obama said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to partnering with them to tell stories that not only entertain but also inspire.”
Mrs. Obama added, “We are so proud of the stories we have been able to tell at Higher Ground, and there’s no one we’d rather write our next chapter with than Audible. Together, we will keep striving to tell compelling, provocative, and soulful stories — while doing everything we can to make sure they reach the folks who need to hear them.”
Currently, Higher Ground has four podcasts under its belt, including The Michelle Obama Podcast, Renegades: Born in the USA, The Big Hit Show, and Tell Them, I Am.
Higher Ground and Spotify will officially cut ties in Oct. 2022 after partnering together since 2019.
