Anthony Joshua backs Daniel Dubois’s decision
Anthony Joshua has defended Dubois’ decision to end the fight and has hit out at criticism of the young fighter. ‘If Daniel needs someone to speak to, he should call me,’ Joshua.
Dubois was heavily criticised for the manner of his loss after he took a knee in the 10th round following a jab to his left eye from Joyce.
The 23-year-old’s eye had completely swollen shut by the time of the stoppage, while subsequent checks have confirmed that Dubois suffered a fractured socket and nerve damage to his left eye.
Dillian Whyte accused Dubois of ‘quitting’ against Joyce, while Haye said he ‘would rather get knocked spark out’.
‘It is easy for people to criticise from outside the ring – but some people have been out of order. Joshua added.
