Lizzo is kicking off Christmas week with a special surprise for her mom, Shari Johnson-Jefferson.

On Sunday Dec. 20, the “Good as Hell” singer gifted her mother with a brand new Audi just in time for the holidays. The Grammy award-winning artist shared the video of her mom receiving her new ride on Instagram.

“I remember crying in my car when my daddy passed, no job no money nowhere to live, wishing I could one day provide for my family,” Lizzo wrote on IG. “I couldn’t do it for my dad so ima make sure I spoil Mama. Happy holidays y’all

Lizzo’s mother can be seen overjoyed with emotion and breaking down in tears before the big reveal.

In January, Lizzo sat down with CBS This Morning to open up about her father’s death. The 32-year-old said that she was a student at the University of Houston at the time of the tragic news and soon dropped out of college.

“I kind of really gave up. I was depressed. I didn’t have a purpose,” she said. “I didn’t feel like I had a purpose for being a musician or anything. So that turned into, ‘Oh can I sleep on your couch,’ and that eventually, I got really guilt-ridden. So all I had was this car. It was a Subaru.”

She continued:  “That was my home for a little. I spent Thanksgiving in that car, and I remember I cried myself to sleep.”

But as time went on and she continued to persevere, Lizzo says that, “I used everything that happened to me and made myself stronger.”

Her monumental success has shown just that, from being named the 2019 “Entertainer of the Year” by TIME to walking away with three Grammy Awards in 2020.
