Women’s World Cup: Ireland Knockedout Of Super Falcons’ Group
The Republic of Ireland has been eliminated from the 2023 Women’s World Cup Group B, joining Costa Rica and Zambia, who were previously eliminated from Group A. Ireland lost their opening match to the co-hosts Australia and then drew 0-0 with reigning Olympics champions, Canada.
In their recent game against Canada, Ireland took an early lead with a goal from Katie McCabe, but Canada came back to win 2-1. Despite several opportunities, Ireland couldn’t extend their lead, and Canada secured the victory with goals from Julia Grosso and Adriana Leon.
Now, Ireland will play their final Group B match against Nigeria on July 31, while Nigeria will strive to stay in the tournament by defeating Australia on July 27.
