WWE Doesn’t Need Ronda Rousey To Succeed – Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair has claimed that while she acknowledges the positive contributions Ronda Rousey makes to WWE’s women’s division, the company doesn’t need ‘Rowdy’ to succeed.
The current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion made these comments during an appearance on the Vibe and Wrestling show. Here they are, in her own words (h/t 411Mania for the transcription):-
“Oh, ‘need’ is a very strong word,” Flair said. “Do I think Ronda adds to the division? 100%. But ‘need?’ No. We have an incredible list of already established stars, and ones that are on the rise. So ‘need’ is a strong word, but do I think she brings a lot to the table? 100%.”
Rousey last wrestled for WWE at WrestleMania 35, where she, Flair, and Becky Lynch partook in the event’s first-ever women’s main event. ‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet’ took the fall to Becky, who became Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion in the process.
Ronda and Charlotte had wrestled prior to that, working an acclaimed singles match at Survivor Series 2018. Rousey won that via DQ.
Under WWE contract until 10 April (the first day of WrestleMania 37), Rousey remains WWE’s most notable long-term absentee. It’ll be interesting to see if she shows up between now and then.
