Nigerian-American Filmmaker Julius Onah To Direct ‘Captain America 4’, Starring Anthony Mackie
Captain America 4 will officially mark the transition of the actor’s beloved Sam Wilson/Falcon character as the first Black actor to play the new Captain America.
As fans prepare for the upcoming Captain America film starring Anthony Mackie, the Marvel team recently announced that Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah will direct the action-packed movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Onah was previously attached to The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) and Luce (2019). The 39-year-old also co-wrote the Jean-Michel Basquiat biopic Samo Lives.
Mackie has played the character of Sam Wilson/Falcon since his first appearance in Captain America: Winter Soldier back in 2014 and has appeared in five Marvel Cinematic Universe films and the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Malcolm Spellman, showrunner for the 2021 Disney+ series, will write the untitled Captain America 4 sequel alongside one of the show’s staff writers, Dalan Musson.
