The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that China has recorded its first human death from H3N8 bird flu, with the total number of infections rising to seven.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported the first human death caused by the H3N8 bird flu strain in China.

The victim was a 56-year-old woman from Guangdong province, who had been infected with the avian influenza virus after visiting a wet market.

The H3N8 subtype is typically found in birds and rarely affects humans, causing minimal disease.

The WHO has stated that the virus does not appear to spread easily between people, indicating a low risk of human-to-human transmission.

The patient had a history of exposure to live poultry and underlying health conditions. Although sporadic bird flu infections are common in China, constant monitoring of avian influenza viruses is essential to prevent the potential evolution and spread of the virus, which could lead to a pandemic.
