West Ham fan banned three years for Salah racial abuse
A West Ham United fan has been banned from football for three years after racially abusing Mohamed Salah.
Bradley Thumwood, 48, pleaded guilty to shouting Islamaphobic abuse to the Liverpool forward when the squad played against West Ham in February 2019.
The man from Bexleyheath was caught on camera shouting “Salah you f* Muslim. F* Muslim c. F off.”
The video then surfaced on social media, with both Liverpool and West Ham fans condemning the behaviour.
Alongside the ban, Thumwood was also fined £400 and was also told to pay a victim surcharge and costs of £215.
After the incident West Ham launched an investigation into the video.
The FA also confirmed they are aware of the incident and had shared the video with West Ham for investigation “as a matter of urgency”.
In a statement shared with the ECHO at the time, a West Ham spokesman said: “At West Ham United, we have a zero tolerance policy to any form of violent or abusive behaviour.
