Uganda Orders Removal of President’s Old Portrait
All public offices in Uganda will be required to withdraw the president’s old portrait and put up a new one issued following Yoweri Museveni’s inauguration for a sixth term in May.
A circular from the office of the president directed them to place their order at the government printers.
The new portrait has President Museveni wearing a white shirt and hat while the old one had him in a suit.
The state-owned New Vision newspaper tweeted a photo of the two portraits:
Mr Museveni, 76, won the election in January, which his main rival Bobi Wine alleged was rigged.
The president, who first came to power on the back of an armed uprising in 1986, said it was the fairest vote ever.
