A deal was sealed between the speaker of the Israeli Knesset and his Moroccan counterpart after their parliamentary agreements signed in meeting at Rabat on Thursday.

It was noted that the content of the agreements not yet clear. 

The invitation of Amir Ohana’s-speaker of the Israeli parliament to Morocco was the first to be extended by a Muslim country.

It was also confirmed that the Israel speaker met with senior Moroccan officials and the leaders of the local Jewish community in Morocco.

Demonstrators gathered outside the Moroccan parliament in Rabat to show their grievances against the visit of Ohana. 

The rally was organized by the Moroccan Front in support of Palestine waved Palestinian flags and held placards criticizing the Moroccan parliament aligned with their Israeli counterpart.

Claimed by the leader of Moroccan Front in support of Palestine ” They refused the coming of the head of the Israeli Parliament to Morocco with total impunity, even though the Israeli Parliament is currently an extreme right-wing parliament, dominated by fascists, and is coming here to be received by the Moroccan Parliament. Meanwhile, as the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine totally against the so call normalization that they wanted to establish, to protest against normalization in general and against its outcome, that’s the normalization that may be established between the Moroccan Parliament and the Zionist Parliament,” said Abdelhamid Amine, member of the Moroccan Front in support of Palestine and against normalization.

In addition, Israel and Morocco resumed their diplomatic relations in December 2020 after they were suspended in 2000 following the outbreak of the second Palestinian Intifada.

It was recorded that Morocco became the fourth Arab country to standardize ties with Israel in 2020 after the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan.
