PSG Positive of Landing Dele Alli On Loan
Paris Saint-Germain are ‘optimistic’ of landing Dele Alli on loan from Tottenham following the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes.
Alli has struggled for form and fitness over the past two campaigns and has fallen out-of-favour under Jose Mourinho this season, making just three further substitute appearances in the Premier League since being withdrawn at half-time on the opening weekend of the season against Everton.
The 24-year-old has made a further five appearances in cup competition but remains on the periphery for the north London side, with PSG keen to sign the midfielder on a deal until the end of the season.
PSG made three attempts to sign the England international – who has not featured at international level for over 18 months – during the summer transfer window and will renew their interest this month following the appointment of former Spurs manager Pochettino.
Pochettino signed the midfielder during his time in charge of Spurs and helped Alli star throughout his tenure, with the former MK Dons starlet being named as the PFA Young Player of the Season in consecutive campaigns in 2016 and 2017.
A reunion between the duo would provide Alli with a notable platform to regain form and confidence, whilst he would be handed an opportunity to play alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a side seeking major honours both domestically and in the Champions League.
PSG are ‘optimistic’ over the signing of Alli despite a reluctance from Spurs to sanction his departure, with chairman Daniel Levy retaining a belief that he can regain his form and remain a valuable asset for the club.
Any deal may also yet depend on news regarding the fitness of both Gareth Bale and Giovani Lo Celso with both stars currently sidelined through injury.
