In a recent revelation, Kylian Mbappé has made it clear that he intends to depart from PSG on a free transfer when his contract expires in June 2024. However, PSG is keen on selling him this summer if he fails to sign a new deal with the club.

The Sunday edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport has now confirmed that Victor Osimhen is PSG’s top target in the event of Mbappé’s departure. Maurizio Nicita, a journalist for the publication, reported on page six that Napoli has already turned down a €100 million offer from PSG and has set their asking price at €180 million.

If Mbappé is sold during the summer transfer window, PSG’s financial position will be further strengthened, potentially enabling them to meet Napoli’s demanding price tag.

Napoli, the reigning Serie A champions, still hope to extend Osimhen’s contract beyond 2025 and maintain a positive relationship with the player’s agent, Roberto Calenda. However, reports indicate that should Osimhen leave, Napoli’s primary target would be Jonathan David, the talented forward from Lille.

Meanwhile, during a recent interview with Sky Sport Italia, former Lazio and West Ham star, Paolo Di Canio, openly criticized Mbappé for his behavior. Di Canio stated, “PSG find themselves in this situation because they pampered him. Now, they must minimize the damage and make a decision. It’s shameful how Mbappé is conducting himself, taking advantage of the situation just as he did a year ago, by threatening to leave on a free transfer next year.”

Di Canio further emphasized the significance of integrity, club loyalty, and respect for fans, asserting that money cannot buy honorability, even with vast sums involved. His remarks shed light on the growing discontent surrounding Mbappé’s approach to contract negotiations and potential departure from PSG.
