Kylie Jenner Named Richest Celebrity of 2020
Kylie Jenner is ending the year on a high after being named the richest celebrity of 2020 just months after being stripped of her billionaire status.
The Kylie Cosmetics mogul has topped Forbes’ list of the world’s highest paid celebrities, who earned an eye-watering $6.1 billion ($4.4 billion) combined in the last year.
According to the publication, Kylie earned the most in 2020 with a $590 million (£434 million) fortune to her name. This was mostly due to selling a 51% stake of her beauty empire to Coty for $600 million (£441 million) earlier this year, pocketing $540 million (£397 million) personally from the deal. It’s likely Kylie’s other earnings were generated from Kylie Cosmetics sales, endorsement deals and appearances on her family’s reality series Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
It comes after Forbes dramatically revoked Kylie’s status as a billionaire in May, claiming the 23-year-old exaggerated her company’s worth. In an article with the headline ‘Kylie’s web of lies’, the publication accused Kylie of ‘creating tax returns that were likely forged’.
Kylie, who was named the youngest self-made billionaire in 2019, responded to the scathing report and tweeted: ‘What am I even waking up to. I thought this was a reputable site.. all I see are a number of inaccurate statements and unproven assumptions lol.
‘I’ve never asked for any title or tried to lie my way there EVER. Period.
‘“Even creating tax returns that were likely forged” That’s your proof? So you just THOUGHT they were forged? Like actually what am I reading. ‘But okay I am blessed beyond my years, I have a beautiful daughter, and a successful business and I’m doing perfectly fine.
I can name a list of 100 things more important right now than fixating on how much money I have.’ Kylie’s brother-in-law Kanye West has been named the second highest paid star of 2020 with a cool $170 million (£125 million) in the bank.
However, his second place position pales in comparison to Kylie’s with a $420 million (£309 million) gap between them. It’s believed most of Kanye’s earnings came from his Yeezy deal with Adidas.
Over the summer, the Golddigger rapper made boastful claims of being a billionaire and suggested his wife Kim Kardashian was also on her way. Other stars who made the top 10 include Tyler Perry with $96 million (£71 million), Howard Stern with $90 million (£66.1 million) and Dwayne Johnson with $87.5 million (£64 million).
