Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is not rushing to return to public duties as she prioritizes her health. Trooping the Colour, the public celebration of the monarch’s birthday in June, may not see her participation this year.
Kinsey Schofield, host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast, shared insights with Fox News Digital, stating that both King Charles and Prince William support Kate’s decision to delay her return to public life while she undergoes cancer treatment.
“King Charles and Prince William have repeatedly stressed to the Princess of Wales that she should feel no pressure to return to public duty until she is ready,” Schofield explained.
Schofield added that Kate has been seen looking upbeat around town, supported by her neighbors and her children’s school communities. The palace has remained tight-lipped about her potential return, leaving the decision to medical advice and Kate herself.
A source close to the royal family recently told Vanity Fair that Kate has “turned a corner” in her recovery and is responding well to preventative chemotherapy. “It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” the insider said.
Despite her health challenges, Kate remains a devoted mother. “The children are wonderful and getting a lot of extra time and love from their ‘Mama’ and ‘Papa’ right now,” Schofield noted. Prince George’s appearances with Prince William at public events have been particularly heartening, showcasing the family’s resilience.
Kate announced her cancer treatment in March and has been out of the public eye since undergoing surgery in January. “The princess is not expected to return to work until it’s cleared by her medical team,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson stated.
While Prince William has stepped up his public duties, many hope Kate will make a surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour. However, Schofield suggests an autumn return is more likely.
Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner believes we might see more announcements from Kate soon, possibly through video messages. “Kate is progressing very well with the support of her husband and children,” he said, hinting at possible low-key charity appearances before a full return to public duties.
Hilary Fordwich, another royal expert, confirmed that Kate has been spending quiet time with loved ones and focusing on her children’s normalcy. “She is not expected to attend Trooping the Colour nor to return to public royal duties until later in the year,” Fordwich noted.
Kate has received overwhelming support from the public, with thousands of well-wishes lifting her spirits. Christopher Andersen, author of “The King,” emphasized the potential impact of Kate’s participation in Trooping the Colour, even if only briefly.
“The Princess of Wales knows the message it would send if she were absent, so I think she’ll make that gesture, if possible,” Andersen said. He stressed that Kate’s primary focus remains on her recovery and her children, with Prince William protecting her from undue pressure.
King Charles is expected to lead the way at Trooping the Colour, marking his official birthday with the traditional celebration.
In a video message on March 22, Kate thanked well-wishers for their support. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family,” she said. “But I’ve had a fantastic medical team who’ve taken great care of me.”
She assured the public of her well-being and looked forward to resuming her work once she fully recovers, expressing deep gratitude for the support she has received.
