Kamshybek Kunkabayev Wins First Professional Title
Rising Kazakhstan star Kamshybek Kunkabayev won the first title of his professional career he defeated Server Emurlaev to claim the vacant WBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title.
He was competing on a huge #MTKFightNight taking place at the Tynyshpayev Academy of Transport and Communications in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and broadcast live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV.
In just his third professional fight, Kunkabayev (3-0, 3 KOs) was in control throughout, forcing Emurlaev (23-2, 8 KOs) to retire at the end of the sixth round.
It is the latest big win for Kunkabayev, with his three opponents in his professional career so far having a combined record of 50-8, showing how quickly he wants to progress in the paid ranks.
Elsewhere on the card, Nurtas Azhbenov (11-0, 4 KOs) also won the first title of his career, beating Evgeny Smirnov (13-2-3, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC Asian Continental lightweight title.
Talghat Shayken (4-0, 2 KOs) picked up a very impressive win, defeating Evgeny Pavko (18-4-1, 13 KOs) on points after eight rounds, while there was a huge fifth round knockout win for Abay Tolesh (7-1, 5 KOs) against Vasily Shytk (2-3, 2 KOs).
