Athletes at the Olympic Village in Paris came together to sign their names on the “Truce Wall” on Monday. This initiative aims to highlight the importance of peace and unity during the 33rd Olympic Games.

The event saw participation from various athletes, including Palestinian-American swimmer Valerie Tarazi and Israeli soccer player Niv Yehoshua. Their presence underscored the universal call for peace, transcending geopolitical boundaries.

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), addressed the athletes with a powerful message. “Today, you, the Olympic athletes, you are the peace ambassadors of our time,” Bach stated. “Together we say ‘give peace a chance.'”

The unveiling of the Truce Wall marks a significant prelude to the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled for July 26. This grand event will feature athletes from 205 delegations parading on over 80 boats along the Seine, showcasing a vibrant display of international unity and sportsmanship.

Masomah Ali Zada, Chef de Mission for the Refugee Olympic Team Paris 2024, shared her poignant dream of a peaceful future. “We all have a right to be here to realize our dreams. For the next three weeks, dreams will become reality. But my dream and the dream of all of us here is that in the future we can all live in peace. And no one should lose their home,” Zada expressed, emphasizing the universal desire for peace and stability.

This event not only sets the tone for the upcoming games but also reinforces the Olympic spirit of harmony and solidarity. The Truce Wall stands as a testament to the collective yearning for a peaceful world, where sports can bridge divides and foster a sense of global community.
