Officials from the Yola International Airport, under the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), have called for the intervention of the federal government to address persistent issues with electricity supply and the availability of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

These problems have been negatively impacting both aeromatic and non-aeromatic businesses in the aviation industry. Although the officials preferred to remain anonymous, they disclosed that the airport handles an average of 30 flights per month, with three flights operating daily. During peak periods such as the pilgrimage exercises for Mecca and Jerusalem, as well as festive seasons, the number of flights significantly increases, with Euro Contractor, PEACE, and AZMAN being the leading carriers.

The officials expressed their concerns about the high cost of aviation fuel, which poses a major challenge in boosting revenue at the airport. Despite being established in 1978, the airport continues to face these ongoing issues.
