Police in Ghana have gunned down two suspected armed robbers they say were behind the killing of a UK-based journalist on a major highway last week.

Syyed Taalay Ahmed, working with the London-based Muslim TV, was in Ghana to film a documentary when armed robbers shot at the car he was in.

Police said they killed two of the gunmen and arrested four others on a highway linking central and northern Ghana.

Weapons and stolen items were recovered from the gang, the police statement said.

It added that they suspect the gang to be behind other violent attacks.

There’s growing concern across the country over the rising cases of robberies on major roads.
