Former Man Utd Star Claims Ole Gunnar Solsjaer’s Title Entrance Has Backfired
Former Manchester United ‘keeper Mark Bosnich believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a negative impact on the club’s title hopes.
United’s hopes of winning the Premier League, for the first time since 2013, took another blow on Sunday, as they were held to a 1-1 by West Brom at the Hawthorns.
That result means Manchester City could open up a 10-point gap at the top of the table, if they win their game in hand this week.
United were top of the pile last month, but a run of just one win in their last five league games has seen their hopes fade.
However, Solskjaer has consistently claimed that his side aren’t in the title race and shouldn’t be considered as one of the teams chasing City.
“We’re not talking about winning titles,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports after the draw with Everton last week.

“We’re not talking about winning titles,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports after the draw with Everton last week. Bosnich believes that negative mindset has contributed to the downturn in form, claiming most of their problems are psychological.
“I really do think it’s up here, from a psychological perspective,” Bosnich told Sky Sports. “Let’s go back to when they were top of the table. Out of the last 21 points, they’ve only gained a maximum of 10.
“I trace it back to when they went to the top of the table and everyone was coming out saying they are contenders, which there was no doubt they were contenders, I still think they are to a lesser extent and they’ve got to get as close to Manchester City as they can.
“But when they got to the top of the table, it sort of hit them between them eyes. You had Ole coming out and saying ‘We’re not even title contenders and we’re not even challenging’…well, be careful what you say sometimes.
“It’s sort of like, be careful what you wish for because since then they’ve gone on and showed that. I really do think it’s up here [gestures to head].
“They need to sort it out because come next season – people will still cut them a bit of slack and rightly so for this season – they won’t have much slack, if things go awry like they have in the last month-and-a-half or so.”
