Asked about what the ongoing global crisis taught him, the Mercedes superstar said: ‘Prior to the pandemic, I was constantly on the move. My life revolved around speed and being the fastest in the world.
‘But the crisis has forced me to slow down. It’s opened my eyes to how important it is to take time for yourself.
‘It’s reminded me that there is such a thing as moving too fast, and sometimes we all need to stop, slow down and take stock of the impact we’re making.’

He added: ‘To me, unity is about recognising all the pieces that work together to create something great — whether it be my family and friends who support me, my F1 racing team working behind the scenes, or the engineered parts of my race car.
‘Achieving greatness is only possible when we’re unified and working towards a shared goal.’
