Emulate Shina Peters Approach in Leadership – Oralusi advice Leaders
Hareter Babatunde Oralusi an International social entrepreneur, philanthropy, and gubernatorial candidate for Osun State in 2014, issued a statement that the Southwest and Nigeria leaders should learn from Sir. Shina Peters approach in handling his domestic matter in governing the people.
Shina Peters has recently been accused by the public for not taking care of his son from late Funmi Martins. Different groups pointed fingers at Shina Peters and even insulted him in the public.
Shina Peters made a video appeal to the people without attacking anyone and promised to correct any wrongdoing. I was surprised to see Shina Peters made a new video to confirm the matter has been resolved, showing the son and other family member. This is an incredibly good example of leadership character and maturity.
Leaders must be responsible to the citizens, people voted you into power and they deserve respect from you. The recent ego displayed by the leaders from the Southern regions most especially in the Southwest is very unfortunate. Regardless the approach of the citizens, it is important that leaders must show maturity and patriotism.
The recent incidence in Oyo State could be better managed by the State Government, both the Igangan and Shasha crisis are indicative of citizens whose rights have been oppressed. The Oyo State people are angry with the government’s action on the Igangan matter and hereby lost the patience to deal with Shasha incidence but people with less psychology understand will say the two crisis has no link.
Our Leaders must learn from the Northern Leaders also. A Fulani leader is a Fulani before being a Nigerian. They never attack their own people, even the criminal elements from the region under any circumstances, rather they find balance in between but our own leaders in the south do not understand what people’s mandate is.
He praised Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State and Governor Ortom of Benue for their proactive actions against any criminal activities in their respective States. He said Ortom stood against killings of his people in his first tenor in office, left the ruling party to further his political careers for his second tenor in office and people voted for him.
He emphasised that the best solution to the crisis in the Southwest Region is the Oduduwa Autonomy.
