Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy has achieved a groundbreaking milestone as the first African artist to surpass two billion streams in the United Kingdom.

During his sold-out performance at Koko Camden in London on Monday night, Burna Boy was honored with a prestigious Brit Plaque in recognition of this remarkable feat, solidifying his status as a global music icon.

This achievement follows closely on the heels of his earlier recognition with a Brit 1 billion streams plaque, which he received during another sold-out show at the London Stadium in June.

In a viral video capturing the moment he received the Brit 2 billion streams plaque, Burna Boy expressed his gratitude, stating, “I fought for it. Thank you very much. I appreciate you. Ehen, now that’s it. You’ve to fight for your right.” When one of the presenters suggested that he already possessed the achievement and didn’t need to fight anymore, Burna Boy emphasized, “No. You know, we have to fight for our rights.”

Renowned for his electrifying performances across Europe and beyond, the acclaimed ‘African Giant’ continues to dominate headlines with his impactful music and stage presence.

Throughout the first half of this year, Burna Boy captivated audiences with sold-out concerts across the United Kingdom, further solidifying his position as the “Afrobeat Ambassador” with global appeal and recognition.
