American Golf is set to open the “most high tech” golf store in the United Kingdom, with a new £650,000 store to open in Greater Manchester next month due to the sport’s huge rise in popularity over the past year.

The golf retailing giants said that the overhaul at Trafford Golf Centre will also feature a Zen Green Stage, often used on Sky Sports Golf and trusted by hundreds of professional golfers, which simulates real-world putting green slopes.

Sky Sports Golf presenter Nick Dougherty often uses the Zen Green Stage at the Sky Studio to simulate putts that PGA Tour players will be facing at upcoming tournaments.

The new store will create 15 jobs and it has been built as a result of the increased number of new golfers over the past year, with participation at an all-time high, including more women and children.

Gary Favell, CEO of American Golf, said: “Golf has seen a huge surge in popularity over the last 12 months and being a socially-distanced sport, we expect this to continue when golf courses re-open on March 29.

The new high tech golf store will be open to the public on April 12.
