Smail Chergui who is the Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union, said that the recent developments in Tripoli force us to reconsider the Libyan situation, which seems to be heading toward a real war, as he put it.

Chergui in his statement cautioned, of a long war that would be costly in terms of the loss of human lives and in weakening the whole region, in particular, the African coast.

He also expressed hope that the international community and the Security Council would respond to calls deserting shove Libya with weapons.
