A 27-year-old Chinese national, Lu Ke, has been sentenced in Malawi for encouraging children to chant racist slogans in Chinese, despite the children not understanding the language. He recorded these videos and sold them on Chinese social networks. The court in Lilongwe found him guilty of recruiting children for racial exploitation, leading to a one-year prison sentence.

After serving his sentence, he has been ordered to leave the country and is banned from returning. In one video, a young child was heard saying demeaning phrases about themselves. Lu Ke claimed his intention was to spread Chinese culture in Malawi. He was arrested in neighboring Zambia for illegal entry after fleeing Malawi and was later extradited. The Chinese embassy in Malawi condemned his actions, stating that the Chinese government has a zero-tolerance policy for racism.
