Gabriel Jesus revealed that his decision to leave Manchester City stemmed from an emotional incident involving head coach Pep Guardiola. Speaking on the “Denilson show” podcast, the Brazilian forward recounted the moment during a Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain when Guardiola left him out of the starting lineup, opting instead for Oleksandr Zinchenko as a false 9.

Recalling the events, Jesus expressed his astonishment, stating that Zinchenko didn’t even participate in training the day before. The Brazilian striker confided that he felt disheartened and upset, to the point where he called his mother and expressed his desire to leave. Jesus admitted that he was deeply affected when Guardiola chose to play Zinchenko, a left-back, in his position, and it left him feeling distraught.

However, Jesus eventually came off the bench in the second half of the match, and his impact was profound. He provided an assist for the equalizer and scored the winning goal, leading City to a 2-1 victory. Despite this, he revealed that similar situations continued to occur, causing him immense frustration and prompting his decision to depart from Manchester City.

Last summer, Jesus made a move to Arsenal, a transfer that he described as liberating. During his debut season with the Gunners, he showcased his talent by scoring 11 goals and assisting seven more in 26 league appearances, helping the team secure a runner-up position in the Premier League, just behind his former club.
